San Diego Blood Bank Teams With Omni San Diego Hotel For Blood and Bone Marrow Testing Drive With Padres MemorabiliaPosted: May 21, 2008The San Diego Blood Bank will partner with the Omni San Diego Hotel for a blood and bone marrow testing drive, on Tuesday, June 3, at the Omni San Diego Hotel, 4th Floor Grand Ballroom, at 675 L Street from 12:30 to 6:30 p.m. The bone marrow testing is being offered free of charge due to a generous donation from the Bone Marrow Foundation of San Diego. The first 100 blood donors at this drive will be awarded a commemorative Adrian Gonzalez Jersey and all donors will be awarded a Padres seat cushion. Donors also may enter to win free Padres tickets or a one night’s stay at the Omni San Diego Hotel. In addition blood donors will enjoy Oggi’s Pizza, Rubio’s food, Crunchtime Popcorn, Coca Cola soft drinks, VitaminWater and Wienerschnitzel hot dogs and buns.The first 150 donors to make an appointment for this drive before Wednesday, May 28, will be mailed a parking pass and a map to the Ace Parking garage at 8th Ave. & Harbor Dr. (South of the Convention Center). Donors must present the parking pass prior to entering the Ace garage and must validate their parking ticket from the Ace lot at the blood drive. Walk-ins and those who aren’t among the first 150 to make an appointment for this drive can park on a space available basis in the Ace Parking lot directly across from the Omni Hotel for $1 an hour. Potential bone marrow donors can join the National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP ®) registry by having their cheek swabbed. You qualify to join the NMDP ® registry if you:• Are between the ages of 18 and 60. • Have no history of asthma, cancer, diabetes, neck or back problems, heart or circulatory disease. • Are within 20% of the ideal weight for your height and age set by the NMDP®.• Are willing to donate to anyone who needs a transplant. Potential blood donors must be at least 17 years old, in good health, and weigh at least 110 pounds to be eligible to donate blood. A good meal is recommended prior to donation.
