 |  | |  Scholarships Individual Scholarships Five $500 scholarships will be awarded each year to eligible high school seniors pursuing higher education (e.g. colleges, universities, community colleges, institutions, technical centers) to support tuition assistance. Eligibility - Graduating senior enrolled in high school that participates in the San Diego Blood Bank High School Challenge.
- The student must plan to attend an institution of higher learning in the year following the scholarship.
- Demonstrated outstanding personal leadership among his/her peers by participating in the coordination of the High School Challenge at his/her high school.

- Include with the application your official high school transcripts and SAT or ACT score.
- Include three letters of recommendation from non-relatives who have known you for at least one year.
- Submit an essay outlining strategies which can be used to encourage blood donations among high school students.
- The essay must be typed, one-page, single-spaced (may also include visual aids such as graphs, photos, etc.)
- Please send all application materials in one envelope. All application materials must be postmarked by May 1, 2008.
Selection Process- Each application will be evaluated in conjunction with the essay as well as GPA, SAT/ACT scores and extracurricular activities. A committee selected by the San Diego Blood Bank will choose the High School Challenge Scholarship recipients based on their abilities, skills and accomplishments.
- Proof of enrollment will be required before an award check will be issued. The check will be payable to the school where the student has officially enrolled.
- The awarding of the scholarship will not be based on sex, race, creed, national origin or sexual orientation.
