How It Works
Guardians Circle members are the foundation of our life-saving mission. By donating regularly, you help maintain a reliable blood supply for local patients year-round.
Donate at least once per quarter in 2025 to qualify for a limited-edition 75th Anniversary Guardians Circle Pin — awarded during National Blood Donor Month in January 2026.
Already donated once last quarter? You’re on track! Now when you donate at least once in Q2 (April 1 – June 30) you’ll qualify. Just continue to donate each quarter* to earn your pin.

About the Guardians Circle Program
The Guardians Circle is a blood donor rewards and membership-based appreciation program. All blood donors are invited to join by pledging to donate blood within 8 weeks of becoming eligible. Members commit to maintaining a regular donation schedule to support San Diego Blood Bank’s life-saving mission.
Membership Benefits & Rewards
Guardians Circle members receive exclusive benefits, including:
- 75th Anniversary Celebration Rewards — 2025 Donation Milestone Rewards & Exclusive Pin
- Choice Rewards — E-gift codes and branded items for donating regularly
- Monthly Chance Raffle — Prizes such as airline, restaurant, and retail e-gift codes
- Special Opportunities — Exclusive promotions tied to holidays and special events (e.g., Día de Los Muertos and St. Patrick’s Day)
- Surprise Rewards — Special gifts and recognition just for being a member
How to Join Guardians Circle
Joining is easy:
- Click this invite link to log in and access the Guardians Circle pledge form
- Make your next donation within 8 weeks of signing up or becoming eligible
- Stay in member status by donating within 8 weeks of your next eligibility date
Maintaining Guardians Circle Membership
- Donors have an 8-week window from their eligibility date to maintain member status
- Guardians Circle members who donate at least 4 times in a rolling 12-month period will maintain their membership even if they miss the 8-week window
- If membership expires, simply donate again to reinstate it — no need to re-enroll
- You can view your member status when logged in to the donor portal donor from a desktop computer in the Donor Snapshot section on the blue left-side panel.
Stay Connected
Members are notified of rewards and opportunities through email.
To ensure you don’t miss any GC75 updates:
- Keep your email address up to date in your Donor Portal and marked “Primary.”
- Ensure you have opted-in to receive email communications.
- Updates to your communication preferences can be easily made inside your donor portal.

Eligibility & Donation Types
- Whole blood — Eligible to donate every 8 weeks
- Double red cells — Eligible every 16 weeks
- Platelets — Eligible every 7 days
- Plasma — Eligible every 30 days
- Mixed donations — Eligibility will vary based on the products donated
Deferred Donors
We appreciate all attempts to donate — even if you are deferred. Deferred donors will maintain their Guardians Circle membership as long as they attempt to donate again within 8 weeks of their next eligibility date.
