Board Member

Tanya is a passionate advocate for the San Diego Blood Bank, having had a close family member receive blood during treatment for childhood leukemia. She is a trusted adviser in strategic/crisis communications, having developed projects and programs for clients ranging from public agencies, developers and nonprofits through her firm, PRM Consulting, Inc. Tanya holds the Accreditation in Public Relations credential and was named California Communicator of the Year by the California Association of Public Information Officials (CAPIO). The programs and campaigns she developed have received awards from the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals, CAPIO, Public Relations Society of America San Diego-Imperial Counties, American Association of Port Authorities, and San Diego Press Club. Formerly a news reporter, her career includes serving as Public Information Officer for the Port of San Diego. She and her husband, Steve, have two children and live in Chula Vista. In her spare time, she enjoys learning to play left-handed guitar and trying out Swiss bread recipes. Mrs. Castaneda joined the board in 2025.
