Happy Holidays from our family to yours

This holiday season, we’re grateful for your unwavering support — your generosity and community spirit — that fuels our life-saving mission at San Diego Blood Bank!

In December we honored our amazing volunteers at our annual appreciation event and we danced the night away. Our centers and staff are festively dressed, embracing the holiday giving spirit, and we are enjoying the wonderful smiles from all of our donors.

Thank you for your dedication and generosity. Together, we are making a significant difference in the lives of many, providing hope and healing to the community.

However you celebrate the holiday season, we wish you good health and joy!

In gratitude,
Your Blood Bank Family

News

San Diego Self Storage joined hands in volunteering at our 6th Annual Sports San Diego Blood Drive presented by Kaiser Permanente in November. The crew joined Cherryl Castro-Lector, SDBB Director of Development, for a group photo in front of a newer bloodmobile that was funded in part by San Diego Self Storage and Managing Partner, Anthony R. Carr in 2022.

New Bloodmobile is 82% Funded

National Philanthropy Day (Nov 15) and Giving Tuesday (Dec 3) inspired many supporters to invest in our capital campaign.

Thank you to more than 300 individual financial donors and generous foundation donors, who have helped us meet the $100,000 matching challenge donated by San Diego Self Storage and Managing Partner, Anthony R. Carr! We are grateful to our community for their continued support to help us continue our mission to save lives. While we have met this goal, gifts are still needed to complete the funding for the bloodmobile.

It’s not too late to make your year-end, tax-deductible gift to San Diego Blood Bank! Make a Gift Today!

Your donation will support our greatest need—a new bloodmobile!

Featured Supporters: The Harvey Family

"Amidst the chaotic anxiety and unknowns of a child diagnosed with a chronic disease, knowing the San Diego Blood Bank will be there for my child brings a reassuring sense of calm, peace, and tranquility."

Michelle, Mason, and Jason Harvey are grateful for every donor and San Diego Blood Bank supporter who together help to ensure blood is on the shelves. An emergency blood transfusion helped keep Mason alive before it was discovered he had Crohn’s Disease.

To give back this holiday season, the Harvey’s recently collected food donations from friends and family to make a generous in-kind donation of snacks for our Vista and Gateway donor canteens. They also shared some homemade cookies with our staff.

Thank you so much to the Harvey Family for sharing your generosity and for supporting our life-saving mission.

Patients like Mason who battle IBD, Crohn’s, and the many forms of ulcerative colitis, are also some of the patients who rely on the kindness of volunteer blood donors.

Mason continues to work toward remission as he navigates treatment for this chronic illness and encourages everyone he knows to donate blood and help others.

"I will never forget my son’s first blood transfusion. I remember my mind and heart racing with fear, questions, and, most of all, hope. When the blood bag from the San Diego Blood Bank was placed on the IV stand and that generously donated blood was started, I began to see the change in my son’s face. His cheeks warmed to a healthy pink, and there was an upturned, peaceful smile as he slept. This was the salve that all of our scared and aching hearts needed."
