For 75 years, San Diego Blood Bank has connected diverse communities to save and improve the lives of patients, ensuring hospitals have the precious blood they need.

Collected, processed, & delivered every day with the support of reliable vehicles

Collected on bloodmobiles each year, which is approximately half of our region’s blood supply
6,000 MTP Kits
Mass Transfusion Protocol (MTP) Kits are delivered 24/7 to an operating room or trauma bay to save patient’s lives like the Karpow Triplets (pictured)
Every day, we collect, process, and deliver over 350 units of blood — but none of this happens without reliable vehicles.
From mobile blood drives to emergency hospital deliveries, our bloodmobiles and transport vans make it all possible.

The journey of a blood donation doesn’t go far without the support of vital transport vehicles that efficiently ensure blood products arrive safely and quickly to patients in need.
Blood is Collected
Blood is donated by volunteer donors at a mobile blood drive or donor center
Delivered to Blood Bank
Blood is transported to San Diego Blood Bank Headquarters via bloodmobile or designated vehicle
Lab Processing & Testing
Blood is processed and tested in our labs, and prepared for storage or delivery
Delivered to Save Lives
Blood products are quickly and carefully delivered by SDBB to local hospitals 24/7
