A new, easier start to your donation visit is coming!
San Diego Blood Bank is preparing for an exciting system update. Beginning November 10, we are implementing Donor QuickPass, which will allow donors to complete their health questionnaire online the same day they donate. Once completed, donors will receive a QR code to help speed up check-in.
Here’s what you need to know:
- QuickPass is scheduled to launch on November 10.
- You’ll be able to complete QuickPass on the same calendar day as your donation.
- After you check in with your QR code, you’ll go right into your health screening and continue as usual.
- QuickPass is part of BBCS ForLife, a new system supporting our operations. More information is coming soon!
What can you do to help?
Ahead of our launch, we need your help strengthening the blood supply. Maintaining a strong inventory is critical to ensuring blood is available for local patients throughout the transition.
If you’re currently eligible and able to donate, please schedule an appointment before November 8! Your donation will help ensure blood is available for patients who need it.
Howl-O-Scream Promotion Helps Deliver a Frightfully Good September
Thanks to our generous blood donors and our continued partnership with SeaWorld San Diego, September was a fang-tastic month for saving lives! As a special thank-you, donors received a ticket to SeaWorld’s Howl-O-Scream event. Throughout the month, more than 11,300 units were collected.
We are grateful to all who helped make September a spectacular month for local patients.
Gift of Life Benefit Fuels the Future of Blood Donation
Thank you to everyone who supported the 2026 Gift of Life Benefit.
Held on October 8 at Vesper Venue in Liberty Station, the annual event brought together financial supporters, community partners, blood donors, volunteers, and advocates in support of a shared goal: expanding blood donation opportunities throughout our region.
Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of our community, the event raised more than $150,000, helping fund a new bloodmobile that will bring life-saving blood donation opportunities directly to more schools, workplaces, organizations, places of worship, and community events in our region.

FEATURED STORY: A Promise to Give Back
Terek received a rare diagnosis that became a life-threatening medical emergency. During his hospital stay, additional complications made his condition even more critical. Thanks to 21 units of blood from anonymous donors, he received the life-saving care he needed.
The experience profoundly changed his outlook on life. While recovering in his hospital bed, Terek made a promise to give back.
Today, he partners with San Diego Blood Bank and community organizations throughout the region to host blood drives and raise awareness about the ongoing need for blood donors.
Terek’s story is a powerful reminder of the impact blood donors have on patients and how one act of generosity can inspire another.
