BLOOD DONORS GET FRIGHTENINGLY FUN EXPERIENCE WITH SEAWORLD HOWL-O-SCREAM TICKETS

San Diego Blood Bank and SeaWorld San Diego partner to encourage blood donation this fall to save 30,000 lives

SAN DIEGO (September 3, 2024) – San Diego Blood Bank and SeaWorld San Diego are once again partnering to gift blood donors with a frighteningly fun experience this fall at Howl-O-Scream, San Diego’s largest nighttime Halloween event offering the only full night of fear with all-new performances, thrills, speakeasies, and more scares than ever before. Donors who give blood at any San Diego Blood Bank donation center or mobile blood drive September 3 through September 30 will receive a ticket to SeaWorld San Diego’s Howl-O-Scream. This year’s ticket to SeaWorld San Diego’s Howl-O-Scream includes access to more screams than ever with multiple haunted houses, several scare zones, an all-new marque show, Monster Stomp, live entertainment, thrill coasters after dark and more.

Howl-O-Scream begins Friday, September 27, and runs on select nights through November 2. SeaWorld’s generous in-kind donation of 10,000 Howl-O-Scream tickets is valued at over $920,000, making it the largest in-kind donation San Diego Blood Bank has ever received.

“Through this valued partnership with SeaWorld San Diego, we hope to collect 10,000 pints of blood this year, which could potentially save more than 30,000 lives in our community and beyond” said San Diego Blood Bank CEO, Doug Morton. “This contribution to our September blood drives will make a major impact, saving and improving the quality of life for hospital patients across Southern California.”

“We appreciate and thank all the blood donors throughout the county, and we are honored to be partnering again with the San Diego Blood Bank to offer a special and fitting incentive for those giving blood this spooky season,” said Tyler Carter, SeaWorld San Diego Park President. “To show our gratitude for making a difference and saving lives, we’re providing an eerily fun night filled with thrills and chills at SeaWorld Howl-O-Scream.”

To be eligible to donate blood, you must be at least 17 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds, and be in general good health.

A list of the blood drives, which will take place throughout San Diego and Orange County, along with links to appointments can be found at SanDiegoBloodBank.org/seaworld. Walk-ins are welcome.
