Community Guardians Program Overview

The San Diego Blood Bank Community Guardians Program was developed in collaboration with the County of San Diego to protect our region’s blood supply.

Community Guardians are businesses, organizations, educational institutions, groups, who increase awareness and advocate for blood donations within their communities.

Community Guardians are:

  • Serving the needs of community health
  • Protecting the region’s blood supply
  • Advocating for the importance of blood donation
  • Recruiting people in their communities to donate blood

Program participants are volunteers who make a difference and inspire widespread community action.

Through Community Guardian’s supportive efforts, a rise in local blood donations is expected, ensuring San Diego Blood Bank meets and exceeds the needs of hospital partners and expands our reach in the region—benefitting all San Diegans and helping to eliminate local blood shortages.
